Flying The ATC offer's Cadet's AEF (Air Experience Flying) which is a chance to experience flying in a Grob 115 Tutor aircraft with a RAF UAS (University Air Squadron) who are normally located within RAF Stations. Through time you may also have the chance to apply for a Flying Scholarship. Occasionally Cadet's may also get the chance to experience a flight in a RAF Aircraft.
Gliding Gliding is another opportunity in which they have a chance of flying in either a Viking or Vigilant Glider at a VGS (Volunteer Gliding School) were you take part in the Gliding Induction Course and through time may also have the chance to undergo a Gliding Scholarship.
Shooting Cadet's will have the opportunity to participate in Rifle Shooting under the strict supervision of well trained staff only after they have been trained and passed a WHT (Weapons Handling Test). Once this is achieved they have the opportunity to fire both the No8 Rifle and also the L98A2 Cadet General Purpose Rifle and possibly achieve marksmanship qualification badge.
Fieldcraft This is were the Cadet's get the opportunity to experience how to cook and live whilst out in the field and also learn about camouflage and concealment and put it in to practice.
Adventure Training There are a wide range of Adventure Training in which the Cadet's can participate such as Climbing, Watersports, High Ropes and Low Ropes courses plus many more.
Radio Cadets are taught how to correctly use radio's to enable them to communicate effectively with other Squadrons. They also have the chance to gain qualifications.
Projects Projects vary within Squadrons but some examples of projects are building miniature radios, robots to take part in robot wars, model aircraft.
Flight Simulator The Squadron has its own flight simulator which is were you can practice your flying skills and also learn about the basics of flying.
Camps Each year there are opportunity's for Cadet's to attend annual camps which are normally held at an RAF Station within the UK were the Cadet's will mix with other Squadron's and also take part in various activities and visits. There are also chances to attend Camps overseas such as Cyprus and Gibraltar.
Drill Drill(marching) is a vital part of encouraging teamwork.
First Aid All Cadet's will study the BHF ‘Heart Start’ Course and gain basic first aid knowledge and emergency lifesaving skills. Also the opportunity to develop the skills and take part in other courses and also competitions
Sports Cadets can participate in sports at various levels, gaining recognition for themselves, their Squadron, Wing and Region.
Community & Fundraising The Squadron takes part in various events such as Poppy Selling, Bagpacking which helps to raise Squadron Funds and also money for other Charities, Gala Day's, Remembrance Day, Airshows plus many more.
Music Although the Squadron does not have its own Marching Band it supports the activities of our Wing and Region
